Hadrian's Wall
by Kate WallisAfter spending the last week walking 66 miles, (the things I choose to do in my school holidays!), I realized that I am obviously a little bit crazy. But it set me off thinking; there's not a lot else to do when walking 14 miles a day, so I had plenty of time. I was wondering what wizards do in their spare time.
If I was a wizard (I have now accepted that my Hogwarts letter will never come :( ), I would spend my whole life (after school of course) running all over the world - well, apparating, really - and finding loads of crazy creatures, getting myself into lots of trouble, and hopefully having lots of fun. This would be, of course, all juggled around my job as a brilliant super-healer who can cure anything. (I have crazy dreams, I know.) But I would have lots of fun, I'm sure. We never hear about regular life for a wizard. Of course, we have Mr. Weasley with his collecting of plugs and mending motorbikes, and Mrs. Weasley, who cooks, a lot. But we never really learn about what else there is to do.
What if a wizard decided to walk Hadrian's wall or climb a mountain? Would they have some handy spell that means it's barely any work, or do they slog it like a muggle? I'm not denying that Wizards don't do human things - there was a Dutch person in the same campsite as me who looked surprisingly wizardly - but they must have super extreme sports and things, because otherwise they can use a spell to get out of anything!
I did have a pretty cool idea for a wizard extreme sport which involves broomsticks, some fiendfyre and a lot of very fast flying - wands not allowed, of course!
Well, that's all for this topic. If you have any ideas for a wizard extreme sport, you must, of course, let me know. :D Email me at kate@accio-potter.com and I'll do another editorial later collating them all.
