August 2009 Interview with Christian Caldera of Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls
conducted by Kelsi Smith

1. What is your favorite Wrock band in the community besides yourself? Why?

It's hard for me to decide. I never really favour any one band or artist. Be it wrock or not.
That being said, I really enjoy RiddleTM. Those girls craft well-written melodies, and their pitch and harmonies are great.
Being a composer/audio engineer by profession, as much as I appreciate and support all wrock bands,
the ones which are more polished usually tickle my fancy more.
So Ministry of Magic and The Weasel King are definite favourites.

2. Other than your love for Harry Potter, why did you start a wrock band?

I started a wrock band as a joke really. I found wizard rock through Pottercast and thought it was hilarious that people
were writing songs about the Harry Potter saga. After a good laugh, I thought, "What the hell..Why not?"
I released a few songs, got a really pleasant response and then got more into the scene by talking to people.
Since then the time has just flown by and I've released a handful of albums and EPs.

3. What other band names did you consider, before choosing Oliver Boyd & the Remembralls?

Oliver Boyd & the Remembralls was actually the first name I came up with.
I had just watched the first film and thought of the scene where Neville gets the remembrall from his gran.
I've always had a terrible memory, so it just seemed to fit.
The 'Oliver Boyd' part was just a name that popped into my head and sounded like the name an student of Hogwarts could/would have.

4. If I made you write a well supported and detailed essay about what you did last summer and who your were with, who in the Wrock community would you be most proud to say to spoke to?

Hmm, I haven't ever really fangirled anyone, so at no point was I too excited, but getting to hang with the Ministry of Magic boys was fun.
It's always nice to hang with people your own age who're as serious about the same things as you are (music in this case).

5. I've got Slytherin Pride. You are a Proud:

I consider myself a Hufflepuff. Mainly because when I looked at the traits of the other houses, I didn't seem to fit.
I'm a very down-to-earth, relaxed person. I enjoy being social, and I take pleasure in the creative aspects of life. Be it music, art, theatre & film, story telling.
I'm not going to go out of my way to be a hero, I don't believe in screwing people over to get to the top, and I never stressed about having the highest grades.
That counted Gryffindor, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw out of the mix for me. Hufflepuff was my last option. They just seemed more relaxed :)
