Frequently Asked Questions
Introduction
PotterForLife.com is based off of other popular sites, where people tells stories of their misfortunes. While these sites are funny and are great for procrastinating, these sites attracts a large audience of people, and lets just say, the stories aren't exactly bed-time type stories. We have nothing against diversity, but what if an upbeat site like these other sites existed? What about one based on Harry Potter stories? The answer is PotterForLife, your new procrastination zone.
Who's behind PotterForLife?
PFL is owned and run by Accio-Potter.com, the next leading Harry Potter Fan Site. The staff wants a site where Potter fans can tell their greatest stories of being a Harry Potter Fan. PFL was the idea of Webmaster Alex, who came up with the idea while half asleep.
What's this site all about?
PFL is an archive of stories written by Harry Potter Fans... stories of their triumphs, favorite memories, and most classic Harry Potter moments. The site uses a simple registration and submission form for users to post PFLs all day, everyday. This way, fans can spread their stories faster, and share some of their own, favorite magic moments.
How does it work?
Visitors can create a free username here at the Registration Page, and then can immediately get posting! There are different categories for PFLs, and some can be found in more than one. A moderating team is constantly checking out the new posts, so we can crucio (or AK) any useless posts.
What does PotterForLife (PFL) mean?
Quite simply, it's a declaration of "I'm a Harry Potter fan for the rest of my life". But put into the context of our charity work, it means "Harry Potter Fans for the lives of others", because we plan to donate a portion of the profit from the book and T-shirts to the Harry Potter Alliance. These guys really do save lives. Check them out!
I've just sent in my PFL, what happens now?
It will be posted in the category you select! If you do not select a category, it won't appear until a mod puts it in one. So don't forget to put it in a category while filling out the submit form.
When posting a PFL, whats the difference between the PFL text box and the extra box called "Full Story"?
The PFL box is simply for a PFL. But maybe you want to explain the PFL... so then you can explain the circumstances of the PFL in the "Full Story" option. This will create a link in the PFL ("read more") so visitors can read the full story.
Why has my PFL been removed?
Maybe it broke our rules. Read them here.
I want to disable the link to my email in my comments! How?
When you post a comment, it will automatically include link to your email. We understand this isn't something most people are going to want. We'll work to disable this, but in the mean time, you can change it by going to the "Options" link in the PFL database. Login as if you are posting a PFL, and look for that link. You will be able to change it there!
Does the site contain fake stories?
We hope not! Why create a fake PFL anyway? What, you have no HP memories to recollect and share?
Why should I create a member's account?
Because without one, you can't post, and it's really easy to create one!
I'd like to receive the PFLs automatically when I'm using my computer.
We'll have an RSS feed for you soon, as well as a Twitter you can follow!
How can I contact you guys?
Yes! You can email any of the Accio-Potter Staffers, but if you really want a response, send an email to alex@accio-potter.com.
There's gonna be a book?
Check out The Book Section.
Where is the FAQ?
Don't touch anything and look at your computer screen! You might see it!
